| Courses
After performing a preliminary recital, students are divided up
into two groups on the first day and receive instruction by each
of the two professors (Schmeiser, Boucly) on the following –
alternate – days in the form of a master class with piano
accompaniment. In addition, each student has lessons with one of
assistant (Ostrý, Beaumadier) to work out special technical
problems.
Depending on the resources available, students can prepare pieces
of chamber music for flute with the instructors or pianists. The
international background of the instructors and students provides
participants with the opportunity to compare different schools of
thought and interpretations with each other.
Since 2007 E.F.Fiss has also offered a programme of specific breathing
and movement exercises (Skov) which has gone down very well with the students.
The aim is to relieve unnecessary tension and blockages and find
new sequences of movement that impact positively on resonance, sound
quality, fluency and the ability to deal with stage fright.
The musical side programme begins with the instructors’
opening concert, to which participants enjoy free admission. After
the instructors’ second concert, students will perform two
concerts towards the end of the Academy at which all active participants
can perform extracts from their prepared repertory. Students will
also arrange and perform music for the Sunday church service.
The Flute Academy courses will be held at Kulturhaus Fiss.
The artistic director of the European. FluteAcademy. Fiss. E.F.Fiss
is Hansgeorg Schmeiser (hgschmeiser@gmail.com).
