Noriko Shima was born in Osaka, Japan. At the age of four she already started playing the piano. As a young piano player she received a price at  the PTNA piano competition in Japan. She studied at the Tokyo College of Music with professor Mieko Harimoto. She continued her studies in Vienna (1994-2002) at the “Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien” with professor Noel Flores. She attended master classes with Sergio Pericaroli, Boris Bloch and Andrezej Jasinski.

Since 1999 Nariko Shima is teaching as a piano accompaniment player at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. She played many concerts with several musicians in Japan, Austria, Germany, Hungary and Italy.

She recorded the CD “Gansch meets Höfs” together with Hans Gansch, Mathias Höfs and Jürgen Ellensohn.
